BLOWING THE WHISTLE: HANDLING RETALIATION CASES UNDER FEDERAL AND STATE LAW
Retaliation claims against employers are soaring. The EEOC reports that the number one type of discrimination claim filed in charges last year was retaliation. Virtually every state and federal employment law contains some form of anti-retaliation provision, as well as many laws geared towards other issues, such as the Frank-Dodd Act and Sarbanes Oxley securities laws. This program will explore the various anti-retaliation and whistleblower laws that apply in the workplace. The panel also will provide strategies for attorneys representing both employers and employees to avoid unlawful retaliation and for addressing claims of retaliation.
